Poll Indicates ‘Passion’ Film Has Lessened Anti-Semitism

(CBN News) – Despite concerns that “The Passion of The Christ” could inflame anti-Semitism in America, a survey out this week shows it may have had the opposite effect.

The poll found that nine percent of those familiar with the film say it has made them less likely to blame today’s Jews for the crucifixion of Jesus.

Eighty-three percent say it has not changed their views. Less than two percent say they are more likely to blame modern Jews or Jewish institutions.

The poll was conducted for the Institute for Jewish and Community Research. The group’s president says that discussion of the issue has probably been good for Christian-Jewish relations.

But Abraham Foxman, the head of the Anti-Defamation League, tells theWashington Times that he still believes the movie may fuel anti-Semitism. He says his group has received hundreds and hundreds of anti-Jewish e-mails and letters.
