Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater announces its February programs

Jewish LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone), a community-wide Jewish adult education program serving residents of Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren Counties, will be hosting three special events in February.

All programs are open to the community and will be held at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center, located at 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater.

Iris Krasnow will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at noon. Krasnow will discuss her latest book, Sex After…Women Share How Intimacy Changes as Life Changes.

The book is filled with advice in the voices of 150 women of all ages, whose stories are raw and prescriptive, describing the challenges that can arise in each phase of a woman’s life. Krasnow’s book offers an honest, candid and intimate guide to enjoying a long, satisfying sex life.

The fee for the program which includes a luncheon is $18/person in advance or $22/person the day of the event.

The program is co-sponsored by the Brandeis National Committee, Somerset Chapter; the Sisterhood of Temple Beth-El, Hillsborough; and the Sisterhood of Temple Sholom, Bridgewater.

Jewish LIFE will show the film, Little White Lie, A Film About Self Discovery on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Lacey Schwartz, a 37 year-old Harvard Law School graduate turned filmmaker, moves with ease in circles in which her identity as both black and Jewish seems remarkable.

What makes her biography striking is that Schwartz, a woman with light brown skin and dark curls, grew up believing she was white. A discussion with Schwartz will follow the film. The Lacey Schwartz program is sponsored by Wendy and Stephen Offen.

The fee for the program which includes a falafel dinner is $10/person in advance or $12/person the day of the program.

The Liberation of Auschwitz, 70th Anniversary event to commemorate those who perished and honor survivors will take place Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

The program will feature Tova Friedman, LCSW, a child survivor who will share her experience in Auschwitz and life after liberation.

The fee for the program is $10/Adult; students are free.
