Mbale, Uganda, March 18, 2011—In the past we have suffered at the hands of leaders who have used political power as a weapon against Judaism. We have been denied religious rights, our property confiscated, some of us beaten up and imprisoned on tramped upon charges with no one to raise a finger on our behalf.
Uganda, as I see it today, is in danger of being on the road back to those bad times. It is critically important for us to have a place in Ugandan politics where our voice is heard. NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME because the rule of law is still respected and now is the right time because our contributions to society in form of clean water, mosquito nets, health clinic, and schools have improved our image in the area. We have the support of the masses and it is a tremendous blunder to give up at this moment.
MY LAWYER IS CONFIDENT that we have a good case and that we will win the petition. There is hard evidence that my agents were beaten up on polling day and ballot boxes stuffed in favor of my opponent. There is clear evidence that 537 of my votes were misallocated. There is evidence that as a result of intimidation, many of my voters feared going the polling centers to vote.
We will use political office to promote unity and religious tolerance and to increase social services. Consequently our people will secure some political protection and will be empowered.
It is my humble appeal to you, my good friends, to help us WIN THE PETITION and the election for the safety of our community and the Jewish people.
Shabbat Shalom & Hag Sameach,
