Slain Black Hebrew Singer Learned to Sing in Russian

Hadera (January 20) – Aharon Ben Yisrael Alis, the Black Hebrew singer who was killed by a terrorists while performing at a bat mitzvah in Hadera Thursday night, was the first sabra child born to the Black Hebrew community in Dimona – and also its first terror victim

Ben-Yisrael Alis, 32, is survived by his wife and a son, parents, and seven siblings. His wife also had five children from a previous marriage

About three year ago, he moved to Ra’anana and developed a career as singer, even learning some Russian so he and his group could perform before Russian-speaking audiences.

Members of the Dimona Black Hebrew community gathered over the weekend to mourn Ben-Yisrael Alis, and made plans for tomorrow’s funeral, which will take place in the Black Hebrews section of the Dimona Cemetery. They described Ben-Yisrael Alis as an outgoing man who remained a member of their community despite moving to Ra’anana.

Members of the community said the tragedy only underscores the deep roots they have developed in Israel, and their partnership in the fate of its citizens.
