A Journey of Racism in Brazil

Public flogging of a slave in 19th-century Brazil, by Johann Moritz Rugendas

Introduction

Brazil has had long history of discrimination against blacks. Beginning with the slave trade, the steps to abolition, and post abolition life has always been different for africans in Brazil. Post slavery blacks were still discriminated against and not treated fairly.
