Bolivia. The Jewish Community Concerned for Iranian FM’s Presence in the Country

AJN.- Ricardo Udler, president of Bolivia’s Israeli Circle (Círculo Israelita de Bolivia, in Spanish) expressed his deep concerns to the Jewish News Agency*, AJN, saying that “Iran is becoming stronger in Bolivia. As a Jewish community, we’re extremely worried”. Iran’s Foreign Minister Mnouchehr Mottaki (photo)started his tour in Latin America. Yesterday he arrived in La Paz, Bolivia, with the purpose of upgrading diplomatic ties between the countries.

Ricardo Udler said to AJN that “The purposes of the FM’s trip, which are known by the general public, are the improvement of bilateral cooperation, establishing cooperation by assembling milk processing facilities and the creation of TV channels.”
Regarding Iran’s growing presence in Bolivia, Udler told this Agency that “the issue is the Iran is becoming stronger in Bolivia. The Iranian Government is working hard to be established here. There are many families and even an embassy.”
He added that “The growing presence and influence that Iran poses in Bolivia worries everyone. But as a Jewish community, it worries us even more”.
Mottaki arrived in La Paz Wednesday as part of a tour in Latin America. He criticized the Israeli Government by accusing it of “trying to portray Iran as an enemy among the countries of the region”.
