Meditating on Forgiveness with Victoria Washington
WATCH: A pre-Yom Kippur conversation with the criminal defense attorney and victims’ rights advocate.
Can we forgive those who murder? Those who commit violent crimes? Destroy our families?
Just before Yom Kippur 5781, on Friday, September 24th, I sat down with Victoria Washington, a criminal defense attorney and victims’ rights advocate, to discuss these very questions. While most of us think about forgiveness around the High Holy Days, Washington thinks about how to forgive all year round. She believes that forgiveness, repentance and accountability all have a part to play in how we create a just world.
