Lord, Get Me High: Shlomo Carlebach Reinterpreted

The enormously influential work of Shlomo Carlebach (1925-1994) meets the wildly diverse talents of the Bay Area Jewish music scene in a concert of creative interpretations of the beloved melodies of “The Singing Rabbi.” Featured musicians include:
Anthony Russell
Vocals, Composer, and Arranger
Anthony Russell specializes in Yiddish art and folk song, chazones and Chasidic nigunim. Inspired by the phenomena of diaspora culture, his work combines Ashkenazi and African American traditional musical forms to create singular narratives.
Joshua Horowitz
Chromatic Button Accordion, Cimbalom and Piano
Joshua Horowitz is the founder and director of the ensemble Budowitz, a founding member of Veretski Pass and has performed and recorded with Itzhak Perlman, The Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Theodore Bikel, Ben Goldberg, Frank London, Rubin and Horowitz, Brave Old World, Adrienne Cooper and Ruth Yaakov.
John Erlich
Oud
John Erlich is founding member of the band Safra. Much of Safra’s music is drawn from Erlichs collection of rare recordings of pizmonim, sacred songs in Hebrew set to secular Arabic, Turkish and Persian folk melodies.
